If you sat through all the credits for'Thor'this weekend, you saw a teaser for the upcoming Marvel superhero combo flick, 'The Avengers.'
You may have also noticed an odd credit: A"thank you"forRalph Macchio.
What does the original 'Karate Kid' and current 'Dancing With the Stars' contestant have to do with the mighty god of Thunder? Or the superhero universe in general?
While you ponder that he was perhaps teaching Thor some karate moves or coaching Loki in what it feels like to be an 'Outsider,' the answer is much simpler. It turns out, nothing. The Macchio being thanked in the credits is acompletely different guywho happens to have the same name, but is a Marvel comic book writer who co-wrote 'Thor' back in the early '80s.
According tocomicbookdb.com, the Marvel universe Macchio is not related to his more famous counterpart, but has been nicknamed the Karate Kid because of the name similarity.
Maybe if Hollywood Macchio plays his cards right, he can wrangle a cameo in 'The Avengers.'
